If an employee's or employer's 401(k) contributions exceed the limit, payrolls will stop deducting for this benefit.

2024

The maximum 401(k) contribution for 2024 is $23,000 for employees. The total combined contribution for employees and employers cannot exceed $69,000.

For employees 50 or older, the limit is increased to to $30,500.

2025

The 401(k) contribution limit for 2025 is $23,500.
For employees 50+ years old the limit is $31,000 and those 60 to 63 will be able to contribute up to $34,750.
